The Arizona Cultural Forum
The Arizona Cultural Forum, January 12-14, 2007 will provide, via the
humanities and
the performing arts, new perspectives, syntheses, and insights into
apparently diverse subjects – the medical sciences and the arts.
Through
carefully focused scholarly and artistic presentations and guided
discussion, the Forum: Robert
Schumann, Creativity
and Mental Illness, will explore interesting parallels and
themes common to the legacies of creative artists (music, literature
and visual arts) who have battled mental illness with Schumann
(commemorating 150th year since his death) at the center.
This multi disciplinary program was originated by Chamber Music
PLUS. In its two-year history audiences as well as participating
organizations have grown.
The goals of the Cultural Forum are to create opportunities for new
learning by convening artists and scholars to share their
knowledge
with the general public in in relaxed spaces at free or nominal cost. Harry Clark
and James Reel curate and
co-direct the Forum.

programming strategies, and enlists musical historians and performing
artists who have demonstrated their abilities to speak about their art
within cultural, historical, psychological, and sociological contexts.
